Kaleidoscope is derived from the Ancient Greek words καλός (kalos)= ‘beautiful, beauty’, εἶδος (eidos)= ‘that which is seen: form, shape’ and σκοπέω (skopeō)= ‘to look to, to examine’, hence ‘observation of beautiful forms’.
