MonTieu Gaitis Suit is part of the spring-summer limited edition collection, translated into a timeless style while at the same time being artsy, modern and fresh. Inspired by modernist sculpture, monTieu designs clothes for women who make their own choices. All garments are handmade with gorgeous silk fabrics and come in a very limited edition only. MonTieu Gaitis Suit has been inspired by Greek artist Yannis Gaitis. Yannis Gaitis (1923-1984) was famous for his anonymous ‘Little men‘ depicting the uniformity and sterility of mass living. Just past the midpoint of the Sixties he began to make his wellknown figure of a little man, which he originally repeated around a central representation and later made into a schematic and standarized figure, constituting a symbol and ironic means of social criticism, repeated in a number of variations. Using this midget as a focus he also created constructions, greater than lifesize sculptural compositions, environments and happenings, which he also transferred to clothes, fabrics and games.
monTieu is an edgy Greek brand that specializes in unique designs inspired by modernist European sculpture. Following in the footsteps of Elsa Schiaparelli / Salvador Dali and Yves Saint Laurent/ Piet Mondrian, monTieu uses the plastic arts as a reference and aims at reinventing the concept of esthetics in fashion design.
