
Kalliniki: Kymatismos patterns
The sea has largely inspired the latest collection of leather sandals signed by Kalliniki. In ancient Greek mythology, Doris is the daughter of Ocean and Tethys, but also the mother of the famous Nereids. Doris sandals cover the feet as the waves cover the sand. They envelop them with strength and gentleness at a time.

The cutout pattern of Kalypso sandals, reminds the love ‘bonds’ that, in Homer’s Odyssey, nymph Kalypsō had casted upon Ulysses to stay near her on the island of Ogygia for seven years. The wavy leather straps envelop to hold the foot gently.

The Amphitrite model are inspired by the shape of the Doris sandals. According to legend, Amphitrite is one of Doris’ daughters. Regarded as the goddess of the sea, she is also the wife of Poseidon. Recognizable among the other models in the Kymatsimos collection, Amphitrite wraps itself endlessly around the ankle to sublimate it.

At the origin of the brand, two women, Kalliope and Niki Mastromanolis. Particularly attached to their culture, to their native island Karpathos, their creations tell this story.
