The sea has largely inspired the latest collection of leather sandals signed by Kalliniki. Elegant and minimalist, they are available in natural and basic colors such as white, beige, black, but also silver, like the reflection of the sun on the sea. Kymatismos collection plays with cutout patterns, changing and undulating like waves. Each pair borrows from Greek mythology a famous name related to the sea. Amphitrite, Doris, Kalypso, to name a few, plunge us into the depths of history.
In ancient Greek mythology, Doris is the daughter of Ocean and Tethys, but also the mother of the famous Nereids. Doris sandals cover the feet as the waves cover the sand. They envelop them with strength and gentleness at a time.
The Atlantis model, like the mythological island engulfed by a cataclysm, alleged to be Santorini according to the legend of Lost Atlantis, wraps around the ankle with grace and elegance. A soft and discreet sophistication.
The cutout pattern of Kalypso sandals, reminds the love ‘bonds’ that, in Homer’s Odyssey, nymph Kalypsō had casted upon Ulysses to stay near her on the island of Ogygia for seven years. The wavy leather straps envelop to hold the foot gently.
Oceanis, like the divine figure of Greek mythology, representing the ocean, encircling the foot of a major leather strap with refined cuts.
Siren sandals, on the other hand, dress the ankle. They take the form of the feathers of these fantastic creatures. In Greek mythology, Sirens are half-woman, half-bird characters. Enchanting, they seduced the sailors by their haunting songs, to the point of losing their senses. Elegant, the Siren, interpreted by Kalliniki are still turning heads today.
The Amphitrite model are inspired by the shape of the Doris sandals. According to legend, Amphitrite is one of Doris’ daughters. Regarded as the goddess of the sea, she is also the wife of Poseidon. Recognizable among the other models in the Kymatsimos collection, Amphitrite wraps itself endlessly around the ankle to sublimate it.
