Top designs from the 2020 – 2021 International A’ Design Competition as well as previously awarded works from past years are featured at the A’ Design Awards’ online gallery of winners
A’ Design Award & Competition is the Worlds’ largest annual juried design competition that honors best designers, architects, and design oriented companies worldwide to provide them publicity, fame and recognition. The A’ Design Accolades are organized and awarded internationally in a wide array of categories; from industrial design, architecture to product design award and fashion design.
Best products, projects and services worldwide that demonstrate superior design, technology and creativity are rewarded with the A’ Design Award; the symbol of excellence in design and innovation. There are five different levels of distinction: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron A’ Design Awards are distributed annually in all design disciplines.
Every year, projects that focus on innovation, technology, design and creativity are awarded with the A’ Design Award to push them further success, prestige, recognition, credibility, publicity and international awareness. Winning A’ Design Award bestows many privileges to the awarded participants: In addition to the award winners’ kit which among others includes the coveted award trophy, winners of the A’ Design Award & Competition also receive a wide range of promotional and professional benefits based on the type of participants.
While the 2020 – 2021 Edition is over, entries to the 2021 – 2022 competition is now open; interested designers, artists, architects and companies could register and submit their works at https://competition.adesignaward.com/register.php where further information regarding the design competition such as evaluation criteria, key dates, list of jury members, entry forms and presentation guidelines could be obtained.
Since 2016, The Greek Designers® transmits the idea of Greek design worldwide and exports premium design goods – with a story to tell – whilst remaining loyal to our philosophy motto ‘Discover the Concept Story behind the Creation’. The selected designers we collaborate are inspired by the Greek history and culture, tell the story through their collections, and many of them are awarded with the A’ Design Award for their concept, functionality and innovation. SOPHIA A’ DESIGN AWARD IN FURNITURE, DECORATIVE ITEMS AND HOMEWARE DESIGN CATEGORY
Marathon Boy Bookends designed by Sophia are inspired by the victorious young athlete, a constant reminder that success is dependent on effort, an important prerequisite that any succesful man should know. This is a handcrafted and hand-finished item, made out of Ceramine; a mixture of earthy and marble powders, which imitates the ancient Greek recipe. It is a non-toxic and environmentally friendly material. Awarded with the Silver A’ Design Award in Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design Category.

LOMMER A’ DESIGN AWARD IN FASHION AND TRAVEL ACCESSORIES DESIGN CATEGORY

Awarded with the A’ Design Award 2016 Silver in Fashion and Travel Accessories Design Category, the concept behind this bag is that you can choose as many different extra straps as you would like and change them according to your mood on your own. EvaTwo is part of EvaFamily, a collection of several bags made of a material, that Lommer’s team developed, which consists of E.V.A. foam and rubber. E.V.A. is a lightweight, durable, waterproof, recyclable, non-toxic & vegan material. What defines Lommer EvaFamily collection is that the bags are not produced by sewing the pieces together, but by assembling them with snap buttons. This way some extra features in products are created and these result in some unique, unexpected forms. Users get initiated to a unique experience by assembling a Lommer bag and choosing different elements to interact and shape different style combinations, based on their requirements.
The founders of Lommer Danai Gavrili and Alkioni Matsourdeli, both Product designers, born and raised in Athens, Greece, conceived the idea to create contemporary and timeless designs that would be instantly recognizable. The concept was materialised in April 2016 after meticulous research on new materials and new production methods. Lommer is an acronym from the words (we) LOve Materials (and we) MEet Requirements, which is the philosophy that the brand represents.

ARTPECKERS A’ DESIGN AWARD IN FASHION AND TRAVEL ACCESSORIES DESIGN CATEGORY
Two In One Backpack designed by Artpeckers is a multi-functional bag. It is a backpack with a top-clutch which can be easily removed and they can both be used separately; the backpack with or without the top and the top as a clutch. At the same time, this backpack is designed to be used as a canvas for different styles, through mix and match; the result is a plain base with multiple combinations. Awarded in 2019 with the Iron A’ Design Award in Fashion and Travel Accessories Design Category.

Two In One is part of Artpeckers Ηeptagon collection inspired by Iresioni, the olive tree branch Greeks were decorating from the end of September until the beginning of October, as an act that symbolized people’s thanksgiving to the Gods for the past year’s prosperity.
Artpeckers main goal is to spread the Greek heritage and mythology all over the world, using contemporary design language. Geometric shapes and patterns give abstract forms to stories inspired by Greek mythology, tales & customs. The architectural background of designers Elli Gkologkina and Dimitris Sergentakis, in combination with Kimon Gkologkina‘s engineering studies helped them to give shape to their designs, while Iro Simaioforidou gives some final touches through her photograph lens.

INOMO A’ DESIGN AWARD IN FURNITURE, DECORATIVE ITEMS AND HOMEWARE DESIGN CATEGORY
Modern Takes collection designed by George Drakakis for INOMO is inspired by monumental shapes that defined beauty and form. Three pieces, ‘Nike; the Winged Victory’, ‘Fragments’ and ‘Trojan Horse’ have been designed along minimal lines to accommodate modern indoor and outdoor living. Modern Takes collection was awarded in 2017 with the Iron A’ Design Award in Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design Category.

Sourcing inspiration from ancient Greek archetypical forms and concepts, George Drakakis deployed advanced GRP design to create furniture with sculptural sophistication made of innovative fibre-reinforced material. Eternal forms, re-made for the future. George Drakakis is an Architect / Designer from Greece that keeps practising serious fun. He designs projects at the border between art and design, constantly reminding that ‘Poiesis’ and Poetry is one and the same.
