Postfolk effectively expresses its DNA in its name, post such as after, folk like the abreviation of folklore. When design is re-imagining Greek art and its folkloric motifs, the past revives in a current and modern collection of digitally handcrafted beach accessories.
Greek female figures, warrior, ancestral or floral archetypal motifs, the drawings recall art and popular traditions, customs and beliefs of the past. The latest creations from Postfolk include luxurious beach collections of digitally handcrafted beach towels, bags and pouches, full of color and symbolisms.
‘Give me flowers’ is a cheerful and colorful beach collection, digitally embroidered with Greek traditional heritage folk art designs on innovative textiles with vibrant colors. The motifs are inspired by Greek folk flower motifs found in decorative tapestries such as Karpathian style Stylomantila. Flowers included in a decorative tapestry, symbolize love, passion, beauty, blooming, trust and healing.
‘Romeos and Juliettes’ this collection of towels is inspired by warrior motifs and female figures, characteristic of Karpathian tapestries style Stylomantila. These figures express strength, passion, beauty, vigor and also recall the mythical duo created by Shakespeare, a literary symbol of absolute and uncompromising love. This sweet and romantic collection, with shimmering colors seems to whisper that only love is important.
‘Totems on the beach’ collection is also inspired by Karpathian folklore. The drawings symbolize luck, joy, abundance. This collection highlights the design, the motifs stand like a totem and visually occupy all the space. The colors contrast with the great simplicity.
The ‘Ionian’ collection, is inspired by a folk tapestry found in the Greek Ionian islands. Zakynthos, Paxi, Kythira.. the names given to Postfolk premium beach towels are reminiscent of the Ionian famous islands. The tapestry used to be given to newlyweds as a talisman bringing Fertility, Happiness, Abundance, Playfulness and duality. This motif contains all the archetypical folk symbols of prosperity called as the ‘abundance’ motif.
Moreover, two collections come to complete not only a unique beach style, but also to function on your everyday needs. The collection ‘In the bar’ is about small cute pouches, the size is just perfect to bring few things to the beach or travel. The ‘On the go’ collection, also inspired by folk tapestries and more particularly those from the Ionian islands, displays motifs rich in symbols. The bags are big enough to travel easily and with great style.
